Marching around London

So sorry we have not posted but now is the time to play catch up.

During the month of March we stuck around London ALOT, but we got to do a bunch of things we wanted to do before heading back to the States in July.

On Saturday March 14, 2009, we managed to spend nearly 8 hours around Oxford Circus. Still not sure how we did that, considering we go there all of the time, but we did get to explore different things. That night we met up with Georg and Diana to celebrate Georg's 30th birthday at Imbiss.

Happy Birthday Georg:

On Sunday March 15, 2009, we did a bit more exciting things. We watched the St. Patrick's Day parade where the most entertaining group were Goth Pirates??? Then we went to Southbank and enjoyed the first beautiful day in London in a long time by grabbing sandwiches and eating outside by the river. Then we went and saw Wolverine on the IMAX. We also met Lisa & Lilli at 55 in Camden for a couple of yummy drinks.

Before the parade we found the Churchill and Roosevelt statue:

Still not sure how the Goth pirates made it to a St. Patrick's Day Parade:

The following weekend was a bit more relaxed although we did hit our favorite place, Borough Market to meet Diana, Georg, and Tim for some food and shopping. We bought fresh veggies and headed home to enjoy the weather with a BBQ. It ended up raining on Sunday so we stayed in bed all day watching tv (hadn't done that in ages).

On Saturday, March 28, 2009, we decided to go to the British Museum. We had no clue how big it was but we thoroughly enjoyed it. We spent a couple of hours there exploring before leaving to meet Lisa for a bit at a nearby pub. Then we hit Candycakes for some delicious cupcakes, Pollocks Toy Museum, and then back to the British Museum to finish our exploring. By then we were exhausted so we popped into Princess Louise for a Samuel Smith ale/cyder and then My Old Dutch for some savory pancakes.

We always enjoy the Egyption exhibits in museum:

It was really interesting, since we had just been to Athens, but these are actual pieces of the Parthenon that are now stored in the British Museum, instead of onsite.

Sunday March 29, 2009, took us to Hammersmith to watch the Oxford vs Cambridge boat race that occurs every year. We even met up with a work friend, Lizzie and her daughter Sophia. We had lunch at the Crabtree and walked the length of the river to Putney Bridge where the beginning of the race was at. Once done we took the bus home and relaxed, had to get ready for the week.
